A friendly management with the atmosphere
In Hotel Gavilán we think that to look for and to apply a friendly management with the atmosphere, it is a form to make the things well.
In Hotel Gavilán we want to communicate correctly with the surroundings, and we talked about surroundings in all its implications:
The nature is surroundings that surrounds to us.
It is immediate surroundings the facilities that maintain the management.
It is sociocultural surroundings or the near communities.
The external client is surroundings also, to whom we wished to imply in the vision of a friendly management.
Because we create in these principles is that we are investing time, resources and enthusiasm in the vision of the Sustainability, vision to which we invited it to accompany itself.
Recently we listened that, to follow by the irrational way that we took, if we did not change our conducts in relation to the atmosphere and the handling of our resources and remainders, in only 50 years more, we need another planet earth to accumulate as much useless remainder and to have a space to live.
or that reason now we want to remember:
“To lose the healthy judgment it is to continue doing the same, and to wait for different results.”
We invited to him to that, next to us, it decides, now, to assume a new vision, person in charge, for the sustainability.

Let us respect the nature:
We invited you to take care of the flora and fauna of the place. Not to take flowers nor plants of the gardens or the footpaths, and either of our Biological Reserve. We took care of, particularly, the development and the conservation of the colony of iguanas that is developed in the forest of chilamates to the border of the river, and the colonies of “red ranitas” dendrobates pumilio, that are around our gardens. We requested to him not to at night use “flash” when taking its photos from these small amphibians or centers with strong lights, not to damage them. It does not have either to feed the animals that can find.
To conserve the energy:
It is important to extinguish to the lights and the ventilators when it does not occupy them. This, and skillful also shorter, added by the amount of users, makes a great difference. We will see great results when all we participate with responsibility of which they seem small changes.
To reduce the cost of water and to avoid the contamination:
A bath towel in the floor, will mean that you need a new clean towel. Before leaving its towel in the ground, it thinks about the urgency of that change, and thus it will collaborate with the good handling responsible for the water.
Help Us to recycle
We recycle the glass, the plastic and aluminum. It will find labeled containers so much in áre3as common, like in corridors and rooms. When collaborating with us in this aspect, it will facilitate the storing work in center.
We offer information
We have printed information that it can be of its interest: ask for our list of birds, or the list of plants and trees that also grow in our environs and by general informative material on National Parks and diverse natural beauties of our country.
Certification in Sustainable Tourism Program
The Certification in Sustainable Tourism Program – CST – is a product of the Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT). CST was designed to differentiate tourism sector businesses based on the degree to which they comply with a sustainable model of natural, cultural and social resource management.
CST is regulated by the Costa Rican National Accreditation Commission and consists of a scale of 5 “levels” of sustainable tourism achievement.
The symbol for this accreditation is a specific number of leaves – instead of the traditional stars- number that can range from one to five leaves, and that means progress and investment in the hotel environment friendly practices.
Within the friendly management is essential to saving water and energy, waste management, respect for nature, responsibility and relationship management in solidarity with the socio-economic environment, among others.
