Hotel Gavilán is not only a refuge of peace, but also an exciting adventure. Your experience here will go from a tranquil awakening with the birds’ songs, to an energizing trek in our 120-acre Private Reserve of true jungle. Many birdwatchers have enjoyed the variety of birds, close to 450 species that come to our surroundings.
. We have 20 rooms with private bathroom, hot water, ceiling fan, and corridors overlooking the gardens. Six are Superior Rooms. We can accommodate until 65 people. Our premises have been used very often like a very special spot for bird watcher groups and also for spiritual gatherings due to the peaceful and harmonious atmosphere. You’ll feel like at home, but surrounded by exuberant nature.
In our restaurant, and in general at the lodge, you’ll feel like at home, but surrounded by nature. From here, many birdwatchers have enjoyed the variety of birds that come to the feeder.

We offer trails with exotic vegetation, a refreshing Jacuzzi with natural water coming from a deep well, and also a private dock for the boat tours, which are our specialty.
All the wide variety of activities in the beautiful Sarapiquí area, like rafting, horseback riding, canopying, among others, will be at your disposal in the reception desk. Bird watching with guides, Coffee Tour, Pepper Tour, “Palmito”, Pineapple, Chocolate and Banana tours, are also available.
We have a commitment with the sustainability and environment-friendly practices. We are working enthusiastically to upgrade our CST (Sustainability Certificate from ICT, Instituto Costarricense de Turismo.)
